The CW has added veteran actor Dougray Scott (“Enigma,” “Mission Impossible 2”) to the pilot of its “Batwoman” series. In addition, Marcos Siega will replace David Nutter as director.
Penned by Caroline Dries, the series marks the first live-action superhero series with a gay lead character. Armed with a passion for social justice, Kate Kane (Rose) soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman – a highly-trained lesbian street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence.
Scott plays Jacob Kane, a former military colonel who harbors a grudge against Batman and has made it his mission to one-up the Dark Knight in protecting Gotham. He’s soon at odds with Batwoman who also happens to be his own daughter.
Nutter will remain onboard as executive producer alongside Greg Berlanti. Siega has previously helmed the pilots of “The Passage” and “The Following”.
