Dory Heads For Biggest Animated Opening?

Pixar is set to rebound from its fizzle of “The Good Dinosaur” with word today that “Finding Dory,” its sequel to the beloved “Finding Nemo,” is looking to smash records.

Pre-release tracking figures indicate ‘Dory’ looks like it is headed for not just Pixar’s biggest opening ever, but possibly the biggest opening ever for an animated film.

The film is currently on track for a $120 million opening – previous records are Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” with $110 million, and Dreamworks’ “Shrek the Third” with $121.6 million.

The film is already scoring rave reviews with a 95% rating on Rotten Tomatoes with many citing it as one of Pixar’s best in years.
