Disney and Pixar’s “Finding Dory” has dominated the weekend box-office with the ‘Nemo’ sequel headed for a record-breaking $140 million opening weekend following a stunning $55 million opening day on Friday.
That demolishes the nine-year-old record for best domestic animated film opening, and the third largest opening of 2016. It’s also four times the number of the Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart-led “Central Intelligence” which also opened Friday and is headed for a solid $34 million weekend.
Early indications also suggest ‘Dory’ is on track to perform as well as 2003’s original “Finding Nemo” which grossed $936.7 million globally. It’s also receiving stellar reviews across aggregate sites.
