Doomsday NOT In “Batman v Superman”?

One of the longest standing rumors regarding Zack Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has been regarding one of the film’s secondary villains – namely that Superman antagonist Doomsday would appear in the project.

Various major sites have gone into elaborate detail about how the character would fit into the movie, some offering speculation he’s the result of Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor playing about with the DNA from the corpse of General Zod from “Man of Steel”. Actor Callan Mulvey, whose role in the film remains unspecified, has also long been linked to the part.

Now though it looks like Doomsday, whether he was in there in the first place or not, will not be involved in the film’s theatrical cut. In an Instagram post this weekend, Moving Picture Company’s Sean Ray posted a photo indicating that his team had finished work on the film’s special effects.

Where things get interesting is in the comments. A fan asked Ray, who works as a 3D character/Creature Artist at MPC, whether he worked on a 3D model for Doomsday. Ray responded: “lol unfortunately he’s not in the film, maybe in the man of steel sequel or justice league film who knows.” That doesn’t necessarily rule out more recent rumors that it’s Bizarro (not Doomsday) that might show up in the film.

The project wrapped shooting in December last year, with pre-production having been underway throughout all of 2015. ‘Dawn of Justice’ remains on track for a March 25th 2016 release.
