Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Set For August

FilmDistrict has picked up U.S. distribution rights to the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” and have already set an August 12th opening.

Troy Nixey directs this remake of a 1973 TV movie about a young girl who moves in with her father (Guy Pearce) and his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) into a 19th century estate and unwittingly unleashes demonic forces.

The film was one of six left in limbo after Disney shut down its Miramax label. As the other five eventually found distributors, ‘Dark’ seemed to be the last of the litter – today it finally got a home.
