Following in the wake of his acclaimed turn as the antagonist Wilson Fisk in Netflix’s “Daredevil” series, Vincent D’Onofrio is in negotiations to play the villain in the upcoming film adaptation of the classic 1970s cop show “CHiPs” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Dax Shepard and Michael Pena play the motorcycling police officers and best friends Jon Baker and Frank Poncherello who’re trying to bust an exotic-car theft ring in the film.
D’Onofrio will play the ringleader, a ruthless former cop. Shepard directs from a script he co-wrote with Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove. Andrew Panay is producing.
D’Onofrio has been undergoing a career resurgence recently with “Daredevil” and turns in both the recent Liam Neeson thriller “Run All Night” and next month’s “Jurassic World”. He’s also scored a major role in the upcoming “The Magnificent Seven” remake, and will also appear in an upcoming “Pele” biopic along with James Franco’s “In Dubious Battle”.
