Donnie Yen Replaces Jet Li In Third “xXx”

Donnie Yen (“Ip Man,” “Blade II”) has joined the cast of Paramount Pictures and Revolution Studios’ “xXx: The Return of Xander Cage”.

Twitch reports that Yen replaces the previously-announced Jet Li who has exited the film for reasons unknown. Production continues on the film under the helm of D.J. Caruso from a script by Chad St. John and F. Scott Frazier.

The new film has Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) coming out of self-imposed exile and assembling a group of thrill-seeking cohorts to take on a deadly alpha warrior and his team in a race to recover a sinister and seemingly unstoppable weapon called Pandora’s Box.

Yen will next be seen as a blind samurai in the forthcoming “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
