Music festival Coachella is about to get underway in California over the next two weekends and the event is set to include something special – the premiere of Donald Glover’s top secret film “Guava Island” this weekend.
YouTube announced today that it will once again livestream the entire festival over the course of two weekends for its users, including the ‘one-time premiere’ of “Guava Island”. Hiro Murai helms the Havana-shot project starring Glover, Rihanna, Letitia Wright (“Black Panther”), and Nonso Anozie (“Game of Thrones”).
Little to nothing is known about the film beyond a trailer released during a Childish Gambino concert last year. That preview hinted at Glover playing a wannabe musician in a Caribbean resort community who comes afoul of some serious trouble.
Glover will perform under his Childish Gambino stage name as the headline act on Friday April 12th. “Guava Island” is expected to stream this Saturday night U.S. time through Coachella’s YouTube page.
