“The Wire” star Dominic West has been cast as Lara Croft’s father in the upcoming “Tomb Raider” reboot for Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM.
Alicia Vikander stars as the famed archaeologist in a film set during her younger days, before she became famed for her work. Inspired by the 2013 game reboot, the story centers around Lara’s attempts to finish her father’s research and uncover ancient secrets in order to clear his disgraced name.
The film also stars Walton Goggins as the villain, and Daniel Wu as a ship captain helping Lara find her father. Roar Uthaug (“The Wave”) helms the film from script by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (“Transformers: The Last Knight”).
The news was announced earlier this week that production is now underway. The new “Tomb Raider” is slated for a March 16th 2018 release.
