Dominic Cooper (“The Devil’s Double,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) is set to play Ian Fleming in Sky Atlantic’s four-part biographical miniseries about the author and creator of James Bond.
Currently titled “Fleming,” the story is set during WWII when Fleming was hired by British Naval intelligence as part of its undercover campaign against the Nazis.
These wartime experiences provided the inspiration for his British spy character who first appeared in the 1953 novel “Casino Royale.”
Like his creation, Fleming was a maverick and a hedonist, a alcoholic womaniser with a taste for finer things.
Mat Whitecross will helm from a script by John Brownlow and Don Macpherson. Shooting will take place in the U.K. and Budapest later this year.
