Careful Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton might be coming for your potential Best Song Oscar.
Dolly Parton and Sia have released a re-recording of Parton’s 1971 classic “Here I Am,” a single from the soundtrack for the comedy film “Dumplin'” starring Jennifer Aniston and Danielle Macdonald.
The film boasts not just six re-recordings of Parton songs, but also features six whole new songs penned by Parton herself and Linda Perry. Miley Cyrus and Miranda Lambert along with numerous other major artists all contributed to the record.
Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal”) helms the film in which Macdonald plays the plus-size teenage daughter of a former beauty queen (Aniston) who signs up for her mom’s small Texas town pageant as a protest. Things escalate when other contestants follow in her footsteps.
Netflix picked up the film this week with plans to release it before the year’s out, including a U.S. theatrical run for awards qualification.
Well I sure am proud to share the first single from the Dumplin' soundtrack with y'all! I re-recorded "Here I Am" with the incredible @Sia and I sure do hope you love it.
