Doctor Who Ratings, Five-Ish Doctors

The 50th anniversary weekend of “Doctor Who” is coming to a close, and the first ratings figures are in. Approximately 10.2 million viewers (a 37.4% share) tuned into the primetime broadcast on BBC One in the UK. That makes it the most watched episode of the series since Christmas Day 2010 according to overnight ratings.

Also, a treat has emerged that fans of classic-era ‘Who’ should get a laugh out of. The video chronicles the efforts of the actors who played Doctors Five through Seven (Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy) as they try and get involved in the 50th anniversary special.

What’s surprising here is the organisation of this piece. Running a full half-hour, it features a bunch of cameos and appearances from several other Doctors, numerous previous companions, former show runner Russell T. Davies and current show runner Steven Moffat, and some random famous names who’ve guest starred before like Broadchurch’s Olivia Colman and Sir Ian McKellen.
