The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) has apparently given Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange” a PG-13 rating, not unexpected as that’s what almost every Marvel film made to date has scored.
However, director Scott Derrickson broke the news and revealed that the reason the MPAA has given for the official rating: “PG-13 for kaleidoscopic galactic intensity and other dimensional psychotropic violence.” He also posted the tweet upside down.
Benedict Cumberbatch plays talented neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a tragic car accident, learns the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. He must act as an intermediary between the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical abilities.
Tilda Swinton, Mads Mikkelsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker and Scott Adkins also star in the film which opens November 4th.
