“True Blood” and “The Legend of Tarzan” star Alexander Skarsgard is rumored to be a major candidate for the title role in Disney’s live-action adaptation of their 1997 animated feature “Hercules” according to a report at We Got This Covered.
The same site claims the studio is also on the look-out for some ‘outside the box’ choices to potentially direct and pen the screenplay, but no casting or crew formal talks have begun yet. A previous rumor had the younger Alexander Ludwig (“Vikings,” “Hunger Games”) being up for the role.
The report comes at a busy time for Disney’s live-action adaptations of its animated properties as “Aladdin” is still playing in cinemas worldwide to great success, “The Lion King” is slated to premiere in two weeks, and the “Maleficent” sequel arrives in October.
Early next year comes Niki Caro’s live-action adaptation of “Mulan” and it has been confirmed that the 92-second teaser trailer for the film will arrive tomorrow on FOX and comes well ahead of the film’s opening in March next year.
