A recent article by Business Insider magazine indicates that Walt Disney Pictures’ planned streaming service has the potential to be an asset worth a whopping $25 billion for the company.
The feature says it is estimated the Disney streaming service could attract more than 30 million subscribers over the next decade, which would place its value at approximately $25 billion. Hitting the 30 million mark would generate roughly $5 billion in revenue and $1.5 billion in earnings before interest and taxes.
Disney announced this summer their plans to sever ties with Netflix and launch their own SVOD package for 2019. The service would house all of their movies and offer a one-stop place for all Disney product as both large cable packages and physical media sales decline and shift over to streaming giants like Netflix, Hulu, iTunes and Amazon.
