Disney Shakes Up Its 2012 Schedule

Walt Disney Studios has shaken up two of its biggest titles set for a 2012 release – “John Carter of Mars” and Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” reports Variety.

‘Mars’, the big-budget adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ sci-fi novel has been pushed up by three months from a June 8th release to a March 9th release – the same weekend that Warners had great success launching “300” and modest success launching “Watchmen” in.

“Frankenweenie” had been slotted into that date but now it has been pushed back a full seven months to a release on October 5th.

The story of a boy who brings his dead dog back to life as a Frankenstein-like monster seems a better fit for the Halloween period.
