Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer have picked up the screen rights to Steven Pressfield’s novel “Killing Rommel” reports Variety.
The story focuses on the British Long Range Desert Group and its attempt to stop German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel.
The legendary ‘Desert Fox’, Rommel routed the British in the North African desert in 1942 and threatened to overrun the Middle East thanks to his battlefield strategies and Panzer tanks.
Randall Wallace (“Braveheart,” “Pearl Harbor”) will write the script with Pressfield, the author of “Gates of Fire” and “The Legend of Bagger Vance”. Bruckheimer will produce.
Wallace remains attached to direct a Mike Rich-scripted film based on the Triple Crown-winning racehorse Secretariat and its owner Penny Chenery.
