Walt Disney Pictures has changed up their film release schedule, setting new dates for three of their inherited Fox titles and one of their own live-action adaptations of a classic cartoon.
First there is Joe Wright’s “The Woman in the Window” starring Amy Adams as a New York City recluse who witnesses a shocking crime. Originally dated for this October, it was pushed into sometime in 2020 the other week and has now settled on a May 15th 2020 opening.
Next, the film adaptation of Eisner Award-winner Cullen Bunn’s comic “The Empty Man” has been set for an August 7th 2020 opening. The story follows the FBI and CDC who enter a joint investigation of a disease-carrying cult.
Third is “Everybody’s Talking About Jamie,” the film adaptation fo the musical inspired by the true story of Jamie Campbell – a sixteen-year-old kid who lives in a council estate and doesn’t fit in but overcomes prejudice to wear a frock to his school prom. Max Harwood, Richard E. Grant, Sharon Horgan and Sarah Lancashire star in the film which will open October 23rd 2020.
Finally there’s “Cruella,” Disney’s “101 Dalmations” live-action prequel starring Emma Stone as a younger incarnation of the dog fur coat-seeking Cruella De Vil. Emma Thompson Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry have been cast in the Craig Gillespie-directed project which was aiming for a Christmas 2020 release but will now open May 28th 2021.
