Disney Sets “Avatar,” “Star Wars” Park Dates

Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger has confirmed today during a quarterly earnings conference call that “Pandora: The World of Avatar,” its upcoming theme park attraction, will officially open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom on May 27th.

Boasting floating mountains and bioluminescent plants, guests will be able to experience two excursions – a family-friendly Na’vi River Journey, and the Avatar Flight of Passage which allows you to ride a Banshee over the world of Pandora.

Additionally, Iger confirmed that the long-gestating Star Wars Lands at both Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, are on target for a 2019 opening.

The latter will include new rides and shops along with new mission element of Star Tours that ties in with this year’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” opening in December.

The release of the first “Avatar” sequel is still expected to be in December 2018.
