Disney CEO Bob Iger has suggested that the company’s successful TV division could be getting something a little extra in the future – namely a channel or channels dedicated to their two biggest properties – Marvel and “Star Wars”.
According to Daily Finance, as part of a conference call last week Iger was asked about the chances of the Mouse House unleashing its own streaming service. His response seemed to suggest that those in the studio are continually looking at ways to expand their brands:
“We have said that with these channels and these brands – ESPN, ABC, Disney, maybe even down the road something related to Star Wars and Marvel – we do have an ability as a company to take product, specifically filmed entertainment, television, movies, directly to consumers.”
This of course has raised many questions regarding how such a channel/channels would be delivered, details that Iger did not go into.
