Disney Plans A Live-Action “Snow White”

It was inevitable. Disney is reportedly developing a new, live-action movie musical based on its 1937 animated classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.

Erin Cressida Wilson (“The Girl on the Train”) is in negotiations to write the script which will feature new tracks by songwriters Benj Pasek & Justin Paul (“La La Land”). Marc Platt will produce, but no director or actors are yet attached.

The studio is also still working on a live-action spin-off “Rose Red” which will follow Snow White’s sister. Both join a huge slate of live-action takes on classic Disney cartoons in the works including Jon Favreau’s “The Lion King,” Bill Condon’s “Beauty and the Beast,” Guy Ritchie’s “Aladdin” and a “The Little Mermaid” film.
