Disney Breaks Its Box-Office Record

Today, with seven weeks still to go in the year, Walt Disney Studios is set to break its previous global box office record of $3.791 billion which it reached in 2010.

The company reached the $1 billion domestic box office milestone back in July, and the $2 billion international box office marker back in August.

The success is mainly due to six films – “Iron Man 3” with $1.21 billion, “Monsters University” with $744 million, “Oz the Great and Powerful” with $493 million, “The Lone Ranger” with $260.5 million, “Planes” with $213 million, and “Thor: The Dark World” which has raked in $349 million so far.

The company still has three more films due out this year – the comedy “Delivery Man,” the animated tale “Frozen,” and the potential awards contender “Saving Mr. Banks”.
