Disney and Lucasfilm have announced that September 1st will serve as “Star Wars Force Friday II,” the global fan event celebrating the launch of new “Star Wars” merchandise.
The first tied into ‘The Force Awakens,’ whereas these will tie to the upcoming “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and will feature toys, collectibles, books, apparel going on sale beginning at 12:01am. The previous Force Friday was an 18-hour online marathon employing YouTube stars opening toy boxes online. Disney did not hold an equivalent unboxing event last year for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”.
The announcement, which comes two days before the start of the annual Toy Fair event in New York City, also included the photo above of empty box art which includes the three leads and Rey’s new hairstyle.
The announcement comes as Director Rian Johnson and Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy are confirmed to be on hand for a panel for Star Wars Celebration Orlando on April 14th.
