Though only some reviews are in, Disney’s new film adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s “The Jungle Book” has been scoring rave reviews across the board.
Reaction has been so good in fact that the studio is already making moves on a sequel with both director Jon Favreau and screenwriter Justin Marks in negotiations to return for a follow-up.
The film opened in various Asian and Latin American markets this past weekend and pulled in $31.7 million. It’s expected to take the top spot at the domestic box office when it opens in North America this weekend.
A rival project, the Andy Serkis-directed “Jungle Book: Origins” at Warner Bros. Pictures, is currently slated for an October 19th 2018 release.
