The Discovery Channel is under fire this week due to Sunday’s two-hour faux-documentary special “Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives” as part of the channel’s high-rating Shark Week line-up.
The special reportedly included found footage and apparent “evidence” that the prehistoric shark with teeth the size of an adult hand was very much alive. It also was Shark Week’s highest-rated entry to date with 4.8 million viewers tuning in.
Though the doco included three disclaimers, viewers took issue with the program for presenting itself as fact rather than a collection of well-produced suppositions that lacked any actual science.
