Basket Case
Spike TV and filmmaker Rob Reiner are teaming on an adaptation of Carl Hiaasen’s best-seller “Basket Case”. Reiner will develop the script and direct the project should it move forward.

Thomas Bezucha (“The Family Stone,” “Monte Carlo”) is set to direct the English language remake of 2006 French romantic comedy hit “Priceless” for Umedia. Shooting begins on location on the French Riviera next Summer.

The story follows a shy and hard-working English waiter at a grand hotel on the Riviera, who is mistaken for a millionaire and seduced by an American girl with expensive tastes.

When she learns the truth and bolts, he chases after her and ends up being saved by a wealthy woman-of-a-certain-age – soon finding himself a kept man. The American girl soon tries to coach him in the rules of the game. [Source: Screen]

The Good Luck of Right Now
Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (“Little Miss Sunshine”) are in negotiations to direct “The Good Luck of Right Now” for DreamWorks. Mike White penned the script for the film.

Based on the Matthew Quick novel, the story follows the lives of four people, all outsiders in their own right. In the wake of grieving over pain and loss, they come together to form an unlikely family. [Source: Variety]

Vivien Hasn’t Been Herself Lately
Scribe Brian Duffield (“Jane Got a Gun”) has penned and will make his directorial debut on the horror-romance “Vivien Hasn’t Been Herself Lately” for Aldamisa Entertainment and Before the Door Pictures. The story follows a married couple as they deal with a supernatural entity. [Source: THR]
