Director News: Ghost, Jitters, Locust

“Crank” and “Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance” directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor say that they haven’t decided if a third film in either film series will be their next project.

In regards to a third “Ghost Rider”, Neveldine says “There’s been talk about [a sequel]. I know Nic[olas Cage] wants to do it, he’s very pumped about it. We’ll just to see how well [this] does.” As for a third “Crank”, he says “It’s gonna happen, it’s gonna be written, and it will be 3D.” [Source: The Playlist]

Mike Mitchell (“Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, Sky High”) is attached to direct the family fantasy adventure “Jitters” at Paramount.

Marc Haimes penned the script about genetically altered bugs, further details are unknown aside from the tone being akin to Amblin 80’s movies. Chris Bender and JC Spink are producing. [Source: Variety]

The Years of the Locust
“Tyrannosaur” filmmaker Paddy Considine has confirmed he’s adapting Jon Hotten’s professional body building book “The Years Of The Locust”.

The film is based on a true story in the American South in the ’90s. The story follows a sociopathic door-to-door sales king turned boxing promoter Rick “Elvis” Parker along with his loyal, naive incorruptible fighter Tim Anderson. [Source: Deadline]
