Thrust into fame as her first screenwriting credit “Juno” won her the Oscar, Diablo Cody tried to branch out into directing with 2013’s “Paraside”.
The film, which starred Julianne Hough and Russell Brand, was slaughtered by critics and was pushed straight to DirectTV. It seems like the experience was enough that Cody says she won’t ever direct another movie.
Speaking about the just released Meryl Streep-led “Ricki and the Flash” which she penned, she broke the news to THR of deciding against further directorial efforts:
“I am retired from directing. I don’t think I possess the leadership qualities required to be a director.”
Cody is currently at work on Sony’s film adaptation of Mattel’s popular doll Barbie, and a TV series for Amazon that centers on comedian Tig Notaro.
