Andrew Kreisberg, the executive producer of The CW’s “Arrow,” has revealed some new details about upcoming episodes of the series.
First up, tonight’s “Heir to the Demon” episode in which Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) comes to Starling City: “Second to [Ra’s al Ghul], [Nyssa]’s one of the most important figures in the League. They sent their first round of minions to come for Sara and that didn’t go so well for them, so now they’re bringing out the big guns… the way Nyssa comes into the story is in a far more provocative and surprising way than the last round.”
The show then goes on a short break before returning February 26th with five villain-centric episodes. “It’s just villain, villain, villain, great big villains, one after the other.. returning favorites and a couple of amazing brand-new ones” says Kreisberg.
The 16th episode (airing March 19th) will be the Suicide Squad episode which sees Diggle recruited for a mission and saddled with the Suicide Squad, including Floyd Lawton (Michael Rowe). There will also be flashbacks to Diggle in Afghanistan with then-friend Ted Gaynor (Ben Browder).
The 17th episode (airing March 26th) is the Birds of Prey one but won’t be a direct adaptation – “You’re not going to end up with the Holy Trinity of Oracle, Black Canary and Huntress right out of the gate. We’ll get there” says Kreisberg.
The five episode stretch will “really chart Oliver’s attempts to keep Roy on the straight and narrow,” and are said to build up with episode 18 being a “big mid-midseason cliffhanger, if you will”. That eighteenth episode also sees the return of Summer Glau’s Isabel Rochev.
