“Designated Survivor,” “Speechless” Get Full Seasons

ABC has given full-season orders to the Kiefer Sutherland-led political drama series “Designated Survivor” and the Minnie Driver family comedy “Speechless”. Both shows have been picked up for an additional nine episodes, bringing their respective totals to 22 episodes for the season.

Sutherland stars in ‘Survivor’ as a low-level White House staffer elevated to Commander in Chief after a terror attack. It debuted to 10 million viewers and a 2.3 rating. “Speechless” debuted to 7.3 million and a 2.0.

These mark ABC’s first new series to get full seasons and the second and third for the Fall to get picked up, the first being NBC’s “This Is Us”.
