Derrickson Starts Filming “Snowpiercer” Series

“Sinister” and “Doctor Strange” director Scott Derrickson has begun filming on the pilot of TNT’s “Snowpiercer,” the upcoming series adaptation of Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette’s 1982 French graphic novel “La Transperceneige”.

The comic imagines a new ice age where mankind survives aboard a massive train run by a perpetual motion engine. The property was previously adapted into the 2013 film “Snowpiercer” with Tilda Swinton and Chris Evans.

Bong Joon-ho, who helmed the film, will executive produce the series version which will star Jennifer Connelly, “Hamilton” star Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso and Sasha Frolova.

Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”) has written the pilot episode script which is said to revolve around an ‘ongoing mystery’.
