Depp Develops “Night Stalker,” Paul Revere

Disney Pictures has picked up two high-profile projects from Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil production company says Heat Vision.

The first is a film adaptation of the classic 1970’s TV series “The Night Stalker”. The show followed Carl Kolchak (Darren McGavin), a reporter who investigates mysterious crimes that have a supernatural or sci-fi bent.

The show was remade a few years ago with Stuart Townsend as Kolchak but was cancelled after a few episodes. The original was a major influence on producer Chris Carter and inspired him to create “The X-Files”.

Writers are currently being sought for the project and Depp will produce along with Christi Dembrowski.

The second project is a historical biopic of American Revolution hero Paul Revere and his 1775 midnight ride to warn the colonists of a British Invasion.

Lee and Janet Scott-Batchler (“Batman Forever”) are writing the screenplay.
