“Departure,” “Eat, Brains, Love” Score Directors

Filmmaker Chad Hartigan (“Morris from America”) has been set to direct the romantic sci-fi film “Departure” for Good Universe. The project, penned by Billy Ray (“Captain Phillips,” “The Hunger Games”), has been inspired by Martin Caidin’s book “Ghosts of the Air”.

The film follows a brilliant man in 1973 Miami investigating how a 727 suddenly vanished into thin air and then reappeared in the exact same spot ten minutes later.

As mysterious occurrences continue to transpire with increasing frequency in the skies, the investigation becomes personal when the love of his life is on one of the planes affected. Ray and Jim Whitaker will produce.

In similar news, Rodman Flender (“Idle Hands”) will direct and Mike Herro and David Strauss (“One Tree Hill”) will pen the film adaptation of Jeff Hart’s teen zombie novel “Eat, Brains, Love” for Gunpowder & Sky and DIGA Studios.

The story follows high schoolers Jake and his crush, Amanda, who have contracted a mysterious zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class. Now the two are on the run from Cass, a teen psychic sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division to track them down.
