Denzel Washington has formally withdrawn from the Tony Scott-directed action film “Unstoppable” for 20th Century Fox says Variety.
Washington had planned since April to be a part of the project as veteran engineer who jumps into a locomotive with a young conductor (1″Star Trek’s” Chris Pine) to halt an unmanned runaway train filled with a toxic chemical.
The project however hit shaky ground last month due to budget and schedule concerns. Soon after Washington’s departure, Fox quickly came back with a new offer in the hopes that Washington would re-consider his decision.
Washington and Scott will keep talking this week, but for now he’s considering other projects.
