Dennis Quaid has closed a deal to play former U.S. President Ronald Reagan in “Reagan,” a film delving into the history of the ex-Commander-in-Chief which is expected to begin shooting this Fall.
The story will explore Reagan’s life from boyhood through his acting career, his time as governor of California, his presidency, the failed attempt on his life, the end of the Cold War and his battle with Alzheimer’s disease. David Henrie (“Wizards of Waverly Place”) will play Reagan as a young man, Quaid as the older adult version.
Jon Voight also has a role in the film, which was penned by Howie Klausner and Jonas McCord and produced by Mark Joseph who met with fifty of Reagan’s friends, confidantes and cabinet members to accurately portray the details of his life.
Sean McNamara (“The Miracle Season,” “Soul Surfer”) helms the $21 million-budgeted film which is aiming for a Summer 2019 release.
