Dennis Lehane Pens “A Prophet” Remake

Crime novelist Dennis Lehane is set to pen the script for an American adaptation of the award-winning 2009 French film “A Prophet” for Sony Pictures.

The original starred Tahar Rahim as an Arab man who is sent to a French prison and soon becomes a Mafia kingpin among the prisoners. Neal H. Moritz is on board to produce the remake.

Lehane penned the books upon which the films “Mystic River,” “Gone Baby Gone” and “Shutter Island” were based. Ben Affleck’s currently developing an adaptation of Lehane’s “Live By Night” to direct.

This is the third film script Lehane has been involved in writing recently, the other two being “Travis McGee” and “Silk Road” at Fox.
