Demetri Martin Joins Soderbergh’s “Moneyball”

“The Daily Show” correspondent and “Taking Woodstock” star Demetri Martin has joined Steven Soderbergh’s “Moneyball” for Sony Pictures says Variety.

An adaptation of Michael Lewis’ book, the story follows ballplayer-turned-Oakland Athletics general manager Billy Beane and his attempt to field a competitive team on a slim payroll. Brad PItt stars as Beane.

Martin will play Paul De Podesta, a Harvard graduate who turned down Wall Street jobs to use his statistical skills to change baseball scouting tactics. His system, known as “Earned Run Value,” allowed Beane to evaluate valuable players he could hire at low cost

Former Oakland A’s team members David Justice and Scott Hatteberg have signed on to play themselves, while Daryl Strawberry and Lenny Dykstra willbe seen on camera. Shooting on the drama begins in June.
