del Toro Drops Out Of “Justice League Dark”

Sadly it seems that filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is no longer attached to direct the “Justice League Dark” (aka. “Dark Universe”) project according to Heat Vision.

Earlier today came word that Warners was passing on the handling of its proposed film adaptations of DC Vertigo titles to New Line. Whilst Warner Bros. Pictures will still handle all its DC Cinematic Universe titles like “Batman v Superman,” “Justice League” and so forth, its New Line division would take the reigns of the more supernatural-toned comic adaptations in the works.

This would include “Sandman” and this team-up film of supernatural heroes such as John Constantine, Zatanna, Brand/Deadman and Jason Blood. del Toro has been linked to the project for some time but suggested earlier this year that despite the script being done, he may not have time to direct.

Now that seems certain. del Toro is currently finishing up his gothic thriller “Crimson Peak” and is readying the “Pacific Rim” sequel for filming.
