Australian actress Olivia DeJonge (“The Visit,” “Better Watch Out,” “The Society”) has been cast in the role of Priscilla Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis Presley movie at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Elvis met Priscilla during his army career in 1959 – he became smitten despite her being 14 and him 24. They had a seven-and-half year courtship.
Priscilla was married to Presley from 1967 to 1972 and was the chairwoman of Elvis Presley Enterprises which turned Graceland into one of the top tourist attractions in the United States.
The film covers the singer’s growth from dirt poor to global icon, seen through the prism of his complex relationship over two decades with manager Colonel Tom Parker. Austin Butler is set as Elvis, while Tom Hanks will play Parker.
Luhrmann wrote the screenplay with Craig Pearce and the film will shoot early next year in Queensland, Australia.
