Fifteen years since she did her last stand-up special, Ellen DeGeneres is returning to the stage from a new one for Netflix.
In a statement, the actress and talk show host says: “It has been 15 years since I did a stand-up special. 15 years. And I’m writing it now, I can’t wait. I’ll keep you posted when and where I’m gonna shoot my Netflix special. I’m excited to do it; I’m excited for you to see it.”
DeGeneres got her start in stand-up comedy before transitioning into acting and hosting. The news marks the latest high-profile comedian to partner with Netflix for a comedy special.
She joins the likes of Dave Chappelle, Amy Schumer, Kevin James, Jim Gaffigan and Jerry Seinfeld who’ve also recently made deals with Netflix for specials.
