Deborah Chow has been hired to helm the entirety of their upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series for Disney+ and Lucasfilm.
Chow is a TV veteran who has worked on numerous prestige series ranging from the upcoming “The Mandalorian” to “Mr. Robot,” “American Gods,” “Better Call Saul” and “The Man in the High Castle”.
The new series will take place eight years after the events of ‘Revenge of the Sith’ where Obi-Wan delivered the infant Luke Skywalker to his Tatooine homestead. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role for the series which is rumored to run a total of four hours.
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement: “We really wanted to select a director who is able to explore both the quiet determination and rich mystique of Obi-Wan in a way that folds seamlessly into the Star Wars saga. Based on her phenomenal work developing our characters in The Mandalorian, I’m absolutely confident Deborah is the right director to tell this story.”
