DeBont’s Stopping Power Postponed

IM Internationalmedia AG has announced that the start of principal photography of the Jan de Bont-directed $40 million action thriller “Stopping Power” has been suspended.

Variety reports that a key investor in the film had not been able to fulfill his obligations, thus without the required funding the project has been postponed.

John Cusack, Jason Isaacs and Melissa George were to star in the story of a criminal on the run (Isaacs) who steals an RV with a young girl inside. He then forces the girl’s father (Cusack) to participate in his getaway by acting as a decoy for the police.

The company is already seeking for alternative investors and assumes that the production can be continued shortly in Berlin. Internationalmedia declined to say which of the film’s financiers had pulled out, indicating that it would pursue legal recourse.
