Dean DeBlois (“How to Train Your Dragon,” “Lilo & Stitch”) has been attached to pen and direct the live-action “Micronauts” movie currently in the works for Paramount Pictures.

Originating in the late 1970s by now-defunct Mego, the toys were a popular seller for a time and helped along by a tie-in Marvel Comics line.

The comics are set in a Microverse in which diverse worlds were linked together and in which a power-mad dictator named Baron Karza kills the royal family, taking control. A small group of eclectic characters band together to form a resistance.

The new film take is said to focus on a group of intergalactic explorers and will go with a new script rather than the one that “Deadpool” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had been working on.

The project will mark DeBlois’ live-action debut. Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis and Greg Mooradian are producing with the film set to open June 4th 2021.
