Deakins Will Not Be Doing Dune Bond 25

Following their collaborations on “Prisoners,” “Sicario” and “Blade Runner 2049,” it would sadly appear that filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins won’t be reuniting for Villeneuve’s upcoming new two-film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic “Dune”.

Variety’s Kris Tapley has tweeted that Villeneuve has decided to go with someone else as cinematographer, specifically Greig Fraser (“Rogue One,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Lion,” “Vice”).

In addition, he says Deakins won’t be doing the next James Bond film with director Cary Fukunaga having hired Oscar-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren (“First Man,” “La La Land”) to lens Daniel Craig’s final outing as Bond. Deakins scored much acclaim for his work as cinematographer on Craig’s third 007 film “Skyfall”.

Deakins recently completed work on “The Goldfinch” and will re-team with “Skyfall” director Sam Mendes for the war drama “1917”.
