Just over a week since dropping out of the “Deadpool” film, director Tim Miller has hopped onto another project – a hybrid CG-animated/live-action family film adaptation of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” game franchise at Sony Pictures and Marza Animation Planet.
The game centers on a lightning fast blue hedgehog and his friends, such as Tails and Knuckles, who run around collecting items and points as they attempt to foil the global domination plans of Doctor Eggman Robotnik.
First released by Sega in 1991, the character became one of the world’s biggest gaming icons and has sold more than 350 million copies on various platforms.
Patrick Casey and Josh Miller are writing the script for the film which Miller will executive produce. Miller’s longtime Blur Studio collaborator Jeff Fowler will make his feature directorial debut on the movie which Neal H. Moritz, Takeshi Ito and Mie Onishi will produce.
