20th Century Fox has released two more photos from its Marvel Comics adaptation and X-Men spin-off “Deadpool”. The first showcases Ryan Reynolds’ titular mercenary taking on the ax-wielding Ajax (Ed Skrein). The other shows a shirtless Reynolds’ just before his superheroic transformation and the physical peak condition the actor got in for the part.
Tying back to these images, Reynolds, Skrein and the film’s director Tim Miller spoke with EW about the project. The comedy for instance was improved with numerous versions considered: “[The set] was an alternate-joke factory. For one joke in the movie we wrote sixteen versions.” One joke is Deadpool’s swords which are named Bea and Arthur.
Talking about their fighting scenes, Skrein says: “Ryan’s like Muhammad Ali, dancing around, whispering in my ear, and I’m George Foreman. Every blow is like a haymaker and I just want to take his head off.” “Deadpool” opens in cinemas on February 12th.
