Composer Junkie XL was originally slated to work on 20th Century Fox’s “Deadpool” sequel, but then exited when director Tim Miller left the project. Ultimately “John Wick” co-director David Leitch took the helm to replace Miller, and now the film’s new composer has been revealed.
Film Music Reporter says Tyler Bates has been tapped to score the film. Bates has scored both “Guardians of the Galaxy” films along with Zack Snyder’s “300” and “Watchmen,” while his work will next be heard in Marvel’s “The Punisher” series this month.
Ryan Reynolds returns to topline the film which also stars Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Jack Kesy, Karan Soni, and Shioli Kutsuna. Production recently wrapped.
In news of another Marvel project at Fox, Omega Underground reports that regular Coen Brothers collaborator Jess Gonchor has come onboard the proposed “X-Men” spin-off “Gambit” starring Channing Tatum. Gonchor has worked on three films with Tatum before including “Foxcatcher,” “Moneyball” and Hail, Caesar!”.
Director Gore Verbinksi helms “Gambit” which begins filming early next year and is slated for a February 2019 release.
