Filmmaker Brian De Palma is getting over the nightmare time he had making the noir thriller “Domino” by diving into something else – a Civil War-era TV series.
Telerama (via The Playlist) reports that De Palma is attached to a new series titled “Newton 1861,” an adaptation of the recent series “A French Village” about a titular village and its inhabitants during World War II.
The new take moves the series to Kentucky, during the Civil War, but will still tackle many of the same themes of the French series whilst adding racial and political tensions of the era to the drama. Frederic Krivine will produce.
Before he gets around to that, De Palma is working on a new film based on the Weinstein scandal titled “Predator”.
