De Niro Stars In “Precious” Helmer’s “Selma”

Robert De Niro is attached to play Alabama Governor George Wallace in “Selma”, the civil rights drama from “Precious” director Lee Daniels reports Deadline Hollywood Daily (via Coming Soon).

De Niro would play the Alabama governor who famously refused to de-segregate his state. That stance lead to the famous marches in Selma and Montgomery, Alabama.

The film is expected to begin production sometime later this year. Other projects De Niro has lined up include Paul Weitz’s “Another Night in Suck City” and a potential “Midnight Run” sequel.
