The upcoming superhero series “Stargirl,” which is to premiere on the DC Universe subscription platform next year, is set to air on The CW as well reports Deadline.
Set to launch in the second quarter of 2020, each episode of Stargirl will be broadcast on The CW the day after it premieres on the streaming service.
Business Insider also says that the show’s star Brec Bassinger could well make her first appearance as Stargirl in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths” which will begin on December 8th. Said appearance would explain how she “fits into the bigger DC live-action universe”.
“Stargirl” will follow the story of Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger) who is a smart, athletic and above all else kind girl. This high school teenager’s seemingly perfect life hits a major speedbump when her mother gets married and her new family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska.
Struggling to adapt to a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret; he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. ‘Borrowing’ the long-lost hero’s cosmic staff, Courtney becomes the unlikely inspiration for an entirely new generation of superheroes.
Amy Smart, Trae Romano, Anjelika Washington, Giancarlo Esposito, Joel McHale, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Brian Stapf, Luke Wilson, Henry Thomas, Joy Osmanski, Neil Hopkins and Nelson Lee co-star. Geoff Johns will write and produce the series.
